trouble installing to a proliant dl320

I have 3 hp proliant dl320 3050 that I would like to install freenas to. I have followed all the instructions to the letter and Have had several problems

System

HP proliant dl320 G5 3050
8gb ddr2 ram
two 500gb hard drives
raid card that this disabled

this is where I have the issue:

I can load the iso file to a flash drive and then load the OS to another flash drive then reboot. then after it finds the two hard drives it just hangs and does nothing. I have been working on this problem for about a week now with no avail.

Also please understand that I can load freenas to a hard drive and all works well with the exception of loosing that hard drive for storage. So my system is 64 bit.

Also the raid card is an Intel 82801GR sata controller

this is where the system hangs up when tring to load from the usbkey OS.
