Please forgive me. Very new to TrueNas, really just found it tonight Googling to replace my failing NAS. It's a thecus n5550 5 bay server with Synology software on it. Been working great but the past month it has shut down 2 times for some unknown reason. I am thinking the power supply is on its way out.
So, if I build a TrueNAS can I just take the 5 2gig HDs out and put them in the new TrueNas system?

Very unlikely. I think the Synology disks will probably be an LVM RAID volume. TrueNAS doesn't have any tools to import from an LVM volume; it can only import from single disks with ext2/3/4 filesystems.

You'd be better off building a new TrueNAS system, and then rsyncing the data over.
