Hi Guys,

this is probably a weird question, but, is it possible to mount a vfat formatted HDD in a truenas box and transfer the data from it into a poll so that it can be shared.

Basically, I have several TB of data being copied onto an external HDD at the moment. I'm using a server with a heap of hot swap bays empty, so could plug this drive into the server when the copy is done and then copy the data into a dataset for subsequent use.

Is this even possible? If so, how would I set that up?

Thanks heaps.

Peter.

Afaik, vfat is not supported by TrueNAS CORE.
However, you can plug it into a machine that can read it and then use a share (probably SMB) to copy the files into your desired dataset.

If the disk happens to be compatible you just need to follow the instructions in the link.
