Time Machine/AFP help

Your milage may vary, but – for me – the problem was that I had configured a share password for the Time Machine share (by this I mean a password to access the share, in addition to, and separate from, my FreeNAS user credentials). Removing the share password resolved the issue.

To fix the issue, I went to FreeNAS home > Sharing > Apple (AFP) Shares > View Apple (AFP) Shares. In the list of shares on the right pane, I select the share configured for Time Machine sharing (in my case, it was "Steve's Time Machine Share"). When I selected the share, an Edit and Delete button appeared at the bottom of the pane: I selected Edit.

In the settings, I selected Delete password to remove the share password and hit Save. After saving, Time machine was able to connect to the share and successfully created a back-up.

I just went through all the steps in this thread, and Steve Lumponalog's suggestion is what got me going. Despite the fact I never set a password on the share. Anyway, thanks.
