I recently had an issue where I believe my attempt to tweak the parameters on the Target Global Configuration screen for iSCSI caused istgt to hang hard. It has been running fine with the defaults for a few days now, but my lack of understanding leaves me uncomfortable. I have not manged to get the information form Google, so I thought I would try here. =)

Does anyone know where can I find good docs on for those params? Ideally, I'd like to understand what each means to the target and the initiator, what implications do changes have on system resources (network, memory, CPU, etc.), and any general gotcha's I might avoid. I am particularly interested in max. sessions and max. connections since I have many VM hosts (and more coming) all connecting to the same targets and I'm not sure those are high enough or what might be too high for my system.

The FreeNAS manual says to match some of them to the initiator but I could not defaults for mine: openiscsi on CentOS6. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well.

I'm mainly looking for links that might have some or all of these answers, but will certainly take help in any form I can get it. =)

Thanks!
