system stuck at: middlewared: setting up plugins (system) 6/59

So, havent changed ANYTHING. but this morning i came down to let my son watch Blues clues and set up an rsync transfer to a backup machine i built. I couldnt log into the GUI for some reason so I ssh'd into my main TrueNAS machine and sent a reboot command.
On rebooting, it gets stuck for a LONG time at middlewared: setting up plugins (system) 6/59.
EVENTUALLY it pushes through with a bunch of middleware not started: daemoin not running??? questions and drops to a console waiting for login. but, the webGUI and SSH do not seem to work (nor does network access of the files via NFS or SMB)

I feel like this is maybe a failing boot device (though, the boot device is a dedicated 120GB SSD with nothing but TrueNAS on it...)

Any ideas? just reinstall?

reinstallation fixed it.

Any way to tell if my SSD is starting to decide life isnt worth living?
