Hi,

I have an issue with my current x370 board and having a b450 lying around but is 1 sata port short. If I install the new board will the boot drive which was earlier working on sata work using USB adapter ? Or I will have to perform a reinstall. Only reason I am concerned is i have few vms and plugins with custom setting that would need to be rebuild consuming a lot of time. Any suggestions appreciated.

Edit1:- another option I have is to use 1:4 sata multiplexer but that would divide 1 port bandwidth between 4 drives and one data drive will have to be attached to this card. This might not work, if works the last data drive will be slower then the remaining 5 drives.

Do not use the multiplexer
Try the USB adapter, if it just works then great. If it doesn't then you will need to reinstall on the USB adapter.

Make sure you have a copy of the config file off the NAS. If you have that then a rebuild is incredibly easy. Install TN, upload config and done.

Thanks for revert, i was forced to move the setup to usb a few mins back and it worked fine..only question I have is if I were to backup config and leave all drives as they are will my vms be back as soon as I restore the config ?
