I have a Chelsio TR 540 NIC that I just newly added and Truenas recognizes the interface instantly after booting up. My setup is currently on the 1G interface with a static IP set on igb1. Can I just go to Network -> Interfaces and copy the IP settings on igb1 to one of the new Chelsio interfaces? Afterwards, I can use the "reset configuration" function on igb1 so I only use the Chelsio one?

You need to remove the IP address from the current interface and place it in the configuration of the new one. The changes are not activated immediately, so you don't lose connectivity.

Then, when you click on "test settings" the system applies your changes in a single transaction. You can enter a larger number for the timeout, e.g. 300, so you have five minutes to change the cabling and then reconnect and "save settings" before they are automatically reverted.
