Is swap usage like this normal?

Nope. It looks like you have something leaking memory. Are you using plugins, jails, VMs, docks, etc.? Something is outgrowing physical RAM and forcing swaps to disk. This, as I'm sure you know, tanks performance.

Cheers,
Matt

There is a thread about swap in 9.10.x you should look up. Some of those issues lingered over into 11.x.

What services are you using? There was an SNMP leak issue. Not sure if it was fixed in your version of freenas, but that could be related.

For services i only have SMART, SMB and SSh enabled, i do have all the tunables enabled im not sure if this is something that will eat ram.
Is there a service/command i could use to find out what is eating all my ram/using swap?

Appreaciate the help alot, thanks guys

PS: i decided i will patch to 11.2 to see if the problem persists before i start fixing it!

Did you ever determine the solution? I have the same issue and have not managed to locate any memory leak. Do not particularly want to shut down jails one at a time while waiting to see if swap increase stops...

Freenas 11.2 doesn't show swap usage issues. If you do upgrade, make sure you have snapshots available and backup of your data. Then you could upgrade.
Check on the forum for issues related to loss of data during the upgrade process and see if you fall in the category of potential candidate for disaster.

Hi Apollo

Solved it with an update, but i also did turn off DLNA(6gb+) as it was using weird amounts of RAM. So if you are running plex please check under settings that DLNA is turned off, you can also check the RAM usage in jails! Hope this helps!
