SuperMicro SC846E1-R900B Hard Drive LEDs

Hello,

The lights for hard drive on my SuperMicro SC846E1-R900B work fine of the the first couple of drive but not the rest.

I am using HP 900GB SAS drives. They are seen by FreeNas and work fine, just no LEDs.

Are there any activity lights, or are they completely dark? Stupid question but are you sure they are all SAS drives? SATA lights are off and blink to indicate activity. SAS are on and blink to indicate activity.

Completely dark, yes all SAS. They are HP 900GB 10k SAS 2.5"

hmm, bad backplane or drive enclosures (light tubes might be cracked, or not aligned)?

Ill check the tubes but I am betting bad backplane.

I think I might just replace it with a Norco chassis. This 4U SM I have it really noisy.

I have 1 drive that doesn't have an activity light for some reason. I have not tried to replace the tray yet.
