Hello all,
After digging threads, I've listing some plan for my first NAS.
Use for:
Sync photo from google photo(via OAuth), photoprism view photo, Plex streaming, backup for personal data(SMB basically)
Further maybe setup VPN for internet access.
Current on-hand devices:
Old CPU i3-4160 with B85 MB which does not support ECC RAM
Ryzen 5600X + ASUS B550-F(WIFI) which is support ECC RAM, however not a common spec for NAS through forum's threads.
Personal 1st choice would be using old CPU with 2nd hand Asrock E3C224-4L for better expandability.
But I'm not sure this spec could handle 18 TB *4 under RAIDZ2 setup(either C226, for RAM issue)
However, thinking 5600X setup would be an overkill for simply backup/media center use.
* Due to incredible low price of the board
** Cost include personal wish PC spec(7800X3D+MB+32GB RAM ~1000USD)
*** Brand new server board(~400USD)
