I just noticed that my machine is suddenly using swap, and as far as I know nothing has changed on the server itself, ie I'm not running any jails, didn't change file systems or usage, etc. The system has 32GB of RAM and around 11TB of usable storage, dedupe is not enabled. Any ideas on what could cause this - or how to resolve it (short of a reboot)?

Thanks!

The purple line (wired) is what's in use and can't be swapped, which for FreeNAS typically means OS and ARC. For that to suddenly drop so much and the active number to spike at the same time swap started being used suggests some process may have a memory leak.

I'd suggest checking top to see what's hogging all that memory.

You have a problem, I don't think freenas should ever use swap. Swap is there so it doesn't kernel panic in the event something goes way wrong. Look at top and see what processes are using up memory. Do you have jails?
