su: not running setuid

Hello
Whenever im trying to "su -" from my user in ssh i get the message "su: not running setuid"
Im also having problem using the "sudo" command, it refuses to accept my password. Im using the same password as when im loggin in to the webgui with the root user.

I'd guess you have messed up some permissions on your installation. What's the output of 'ls -l /usr/bin/su'?

Your right, i had some problem with my permissions in the beginning.
The output from "ls -l /usr/bin/su":
-rwsrwxr-x+ 1 1002 1002 16728 Oct 2 12:48 /usr/bin/su
the 1002 is the id of my old user. The new one is 1001

You still have problems with permissions. Best is to back up your config file, do a clean reinstall, restore the config file. Fixing that particular file would be easy enough, but who knows how many others might be wrong.

Realy? I just got transmission, couchpotato, sickrage, plex mediaserver and crachplan to work perfect.
Reinstall the whole system would set me back to stage one again huh?

No. Reinstall and upload the saved config file, and you should have exactly the same configuration as you have now.

Ok so save the config and then do a "Factory restore"?

No. Save the config. Reinstall FreeNAS (ideally to a fresh USB stick, but not necessary). Upload config.

Thanks for the confirmation--there are so many ways sudo can be configured that I didn't want to get that one wrong.

@Dudde, for future reference, you should never need to touch permissions on the operating system. You can mess with them on your pool, but if you change permissions elsewhere, you can cause all sorts of problems (like the one that's happening here). Similarly, never touch the permissions of your jails dataset(s).

Well i have no clue to what i did before. I added/removed users/groups since my plugins had no permissions. The solution was pretty easy doe, just add a user/group named media with id 816 since that seemed to be the default for sickrage and couchpotato. But i guess my laboration broke more then it fixed, everything works perfect now again anyways. Thanks guys.
