Storing Transmission data on external USB stick/disk?

Would like to know is it possible to store Transmission data on an external USB sick/disk, first of all because I've no more free SATA ports on my MoBo to dedicate an internal disk to it, second because I would like to avoid 4 RaidZ2 disks to spin for hours only for downloading data...
Some advice would be great apreciated!
