Storage Config - UFS or ZFS using Adaptec AAR2610SA Raid Controller

I'm not sure on how to add my current storage into FreeNas 8.3.0

I am running an Adaptec AAR2610SA Sata Raid Controller with 4x 1 TB drives. I have a Raid 10 array configured on the controller and FreeNAS sees this as a Single Disk. When i goto configure a new volume in FreeNAS should i use ZFS or UFS?

some clarity on the best way to configure this system would be very helpful
I do intend on adding another 4x drives attached to a second controller card that is exactly the same but possibly larger drives

Best recommendation: disable the existing RAID function on the controller and use ZFS to manage the disks instead.
Read Noobsauce80's guide (sticky at the top of the forum).

Thanks @JaimieV - I came across both forums shortly after reading and ditched the controller for now. Using 6 Sata ports on my Mobo (Asus P5E WS PRO) as standard ports (no hardware raid)

Created a raidz3-0 volume successfully and a few data sets under the volume. For now i'm trying to learn the design / functionality of FreeNAS before settling on FreeNAS for my solution VS say my DLINK 323 NAS
