I have a quick question . On my freenas I have 4 3tb hard drives. On volume manager what is the best option to select so if 1 hard drive fail I will still have my data on the other 3 ? Thank you.

Any of the options except for stripe will do that. Your question is worrisome though. Have you read the manual or noob guide? Check out my signature for recommended reading.

The answer you'd like to hear would be to put all the drives in a RAIDz1 volume.

But, with larger hard disks, like 3TB, we recommend RAIDz2 instead. Unfortunately, with just 4 drives, you'll loose 1/2 of the total storage for parity. If you can afford it, buy 2 additional drives and go with 6 disks in RAIDz2.
