SSD boot disk: I recall some brands were better than others, but which...?

I saw a discussion a few weeks ago about problemsolving some issue and the thread ended up in a statement ("we now have so many use cases that we can begin to draw preliminary conclusions") about some brands of SSD were actually not performing well as Freenas boot drives whereas others were. This was not "established brand vs cheapo brand" (as in the USB stick as boot drive scenario). It was something about the type of NAND used, or some firmware setting common to some brands but not others. Something along those lines. I remember seeing some big brands in the bad category.

Now of course I can't find the thread. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

I recall seeing the thread. The drives used a particular controller that had some odd issues. I don't recall the details either. Just search for a recommended drive or browse the build threads and use one that has been used successfully.
