Hello Guys.
It is a while since I was here last and needed help.
My freenas crashed for a while back and I recently got time to check it out.
But when I was going to see if the backup was okay, I got this message;
Image; runped.sparsebundle Reason; no mountable file system
Do you guys have any ideas why I got this error and how I can fix it?
(It's a AFP share)

It sounds like you're trying to mount a disk image. Possibly a TimeMachine volume? It's been my experience that "no mountable file system" errors are not recoverable. Do you have a snapshot that you can rollback to? Or some other back to restore from?

This is a problem with Apple's Time Machine. Do a google search and see if there is a solution.

I'd stop short of calling it a problem with TimeMachine as sparsebundles aren't exclusive to it, but given the amount of traffic that is going to go to the be involved in maintaining up to date backups you're going to see more corruption with TimeMachine than other sparsebundles. Sometimes you can repair the volume, but it's far faster to just rollback or otherwise restore the sparsebundle to a good copy. Usually the last backup that completes successfully is good enough. Sometimes I go to the backup prior just for good measure.

Ideally, Apple would just adopt ZFS and use replication for TimeMachine. Next best would be a server component that writes data atomically rather than allowing a backup to become broken due to interrupting the backup process from loss of network. Unfortunately, a server process would rule out hosting on FreeNAS. For however much of a headache it can be to host a TimeMachine volume on network volume, storing that sparsebundle on ZFS is probably the option that isafest and quickest to recover.
