Hey guys, first off, big thanks to Cyberjock and all providing so much information, I kept reading and reading for like 3 days straight now. Now let's get to my problem, but let me explain first what I am building:
12 HDDs with 4 TB each, loading the machine with 64 GB ECC RAM,LSI 16x6 gbit SAS/SATA HBA Some 13+ port HBA
Since 10Gbase-T is slowly becoming affordable (1200 for the switch, 330 for a x540-t1 intel card) I really want to test it.
Which CPU does the job. My problem is, that i do not want to 'waste' money on hardware and the single threaded Samba is the bottleneck. I do not want a cpu that's too power consumptive as well. How much CPU power does ZFS need. i know i will have to take a Xeon E5 since everything else would run into problems with 64 GB. Of course just tell me if something doesn't do well in my build, i pretty much just planned it with all the information i got from the wiki/Forums
It took me at least a day to find freeBSD certified hardware in everything i need so plz, get me out of this mess .. :(
