Snapshots - iSCSI or NFS

Hi,

I am now in that situation that many have found themselves in: iSCSI or NFS for VM-datastore.
One of my main reasons to move my vm's to my NAS is to have better options for backup.

I was thinking about using TrueNAS' Vmware integration for snapshotting of my vm's before a pool replication.

My biggest question is: are snapshots of NFS-shares going to use less space and be better for that scenario of snapshoting-and-replicating? I ask this because I would assume that snapshotting a block device would be less effective to compute the difference between states, but I might be completely off here.
