Snapshots including user generated datasets/ directories?

Dear Community,
While creating manual snapshots, I can only see datasets/ directories created through TrueNAS GUI/ command line as a choice. Is there a way to include user generated datasets? I made the tick in the box for 'recursively' but still snapshots do not show me all datasets. Users are accessing files through SMB/CIFS.
System is TrueNAS-12.0-U1

What do you mean by user-generated? Folders? If so no as they are just normal data on a dataset (which is a miniature file system per se).
In a SMB share a dataset is represented as a folder, but a folder is not a dataset.

Yes, I mean the 'folders' created by users. So it means that these folders are treated as regular files for snapshot tasks? I.e. if I create a snapshot of a user assigned dataset all user created folders are included (without the explicit 'recursively' setting)? I did not yet do a rollback.
