Snapshot Lifetime Control

Hello all,

Currently running: TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.2.1

I just had to do a fair bit of cleaning of my snapshots via CLI as they had exceeded 10K. I found this odd as I had configured it for the snapshots lifetime only be 4 weeks old. The main instigator was the snapshots taken for the ix-applications. If the lifetime is set to 4 weeks, shouldn't old snapshots be removed after this period ?

Is there a better way to manage snapshots to ensure they do not grow out of control ? Again, snapshots on TrueNas is all new to me and I want them enabled for obvious reasons but want to have it so that it can be automatically managed where possible.

Many thanks,
P

I believe the dreaded ix-applications snapshots have their own pruning rules and schedules, not part of your automatic snapshot tasks.

EDIT: Ten-thousand snapshots. I'm glad I'm still on Core.

Ahh right, so there is there a way to manipulate the rules for the ix-applications ?
