I have done a ton of searching and just can not figure this out. I will start this with I understand very little of Truenas, I originally set it up by watching videos and had everything working for a few years. Each Windows PC in the house could Read/Write to the file share through a mapped network drive. Recently, I have upgraded all PC's in the home including the Truenas PC. All PC's are running and can map the network drive to Truenas, but they are all Read-only and I get a permission error if I try to add a file or create a folder.

Originally I would log in to the network drive with root and a PW. Now that doesn't work at all trying to log in as root prompts a Username/PW error so I created new users. New users can log in and get read-only but no write.

I am on Truenas v 13.0-U6.1

UPDATE: I guess my update from an older version to the current Truenas is what started the issue. My original installation had me sharing the root directory of the pool and it worked fine. In newer versions, you need a dataset below the root directory. I created a new dataset and after sharing, I can read/write to it.

Guessing I need to move all stored files out of the root directory and into the subdirectory now.

Pretty much, that setup was never a good idea for many reasons and it finally got blacklisted.
