Yeah and afters you have it setup you'll never make another change.

There should be a reload config though. Maybe file a jira ticket and have that feature added.

Thank you so much sir :) aside from restarting smb on the services. is there a solution for using this storage outside the network?

You can setup next cloud, syncthing or basically any other remote storage solution. Smb, nfs shares are not designed for external network access. Maybe using a vpn would be an option.

In general, we try to be conservative about when we restart services automatically. This is because FreeNAS and TrueNAS are often used in business environments where unanticipated service restarts are frowned-upon.
