SMB seems to be broken after updating from FreeNas to TrueNas

Is there a known issue with SMB and TrueNas?

Thank you!

Are you trying to acces your shares as root? If yes ix blocked root acces for shares with 12.0 or so due to safety concerns.
If you are using root, just create a new user, edit the permissions on the pool and remap your network shares.

have you looked, if your nas is still called freenas, or was it switched to truenas during the update?
You could also try to acces it via ip not name

Were you using the user "root" for SMB access in 11.3? If so that's not permitting in 12.0+.
Hiya, thanks for the response! Yes i was before. But after moving to TrueNas 12+ i switched to new dataset + user/group + acl , smb etc

I just upgraded from 11.x to Truenas and lost my SMB share to root. I just logged on as another user and all is well. Thank you for documenting this security change!
