Getting an email from my server:
"This email was generated by the smartd daemon running on:

host name: freenas.local
DNS domain: [Unknown]
NIS domain:

The following warning/error was logged by the smartd daemon:

Device: /dev/ada2, 1 Offline uncorrectable sectors

For details see host's SYSLOG."

Yet when I look at volumes it says it is healthy?

Is the drive dead or not?

Just because it says 1 uncorrectable sector doesn't mean it is dead...
It is just a sign it may start failing...

1 sector dead means, there are read errors, but it does not mean, the sector is in use by a file. you can run offline the hd tools from the vendor with extensive checks (runs about an hour on a mid-size disk), the sectors are read and rewritten, if an error ocurs, the bad sectors get auto-remapped by the drive firmware and the drive appers "healthy" again wit no more errors. You can also wait, until the system tries to write to the bad sector, then again the firmware will take care on the error and will remap it. Otherwise you will always see the error in the smart report.
