I do have a small setup at home for my NAS needs.
The setup is a fresh FreeNas installation with non ECC memory nor SuperMicro board.
I used what I had at home to assemble it, as the budget doesn't allow a lot of expansions.

The system is meant to store photos, and other private data.
I also want to use it in order to replace my Graphite, Influx, Nameserver 2/DNS2 systems etc (using jails or VMs)

I have an I5 7400 with a mini-ITX Asrock H270M-ITX (If i am not mistaken) and 32GB Ram. Dual Ethernet.
I do have:
- LianLi PC-08Q
- 4* 4TB RED disks (non NAS edition they are pretty old) RAIDZ2
- PCI-E OCZ 2*51GB NVME (Read Cache for the RaidZ2)
- 2* SSD 525GB - MX500 (Mirrored)
- 2* USB 2 Flash drives 16GB (Sandisk) (Mirrored)

I have the boot system in USB drives, mirrored set to boot through UEFI.
I am using the SSDs for the System Dataset and the VM/Jail data.
and the 4TB disks for the "stale" storage.

I do Snapshot and send replicate to a hosted at Hetzner system my photos/4TB material. on another system (remote location).
Services: SMB, NFS, SSH

Is my setup an overkill?
should I think adding some special SLOG device on my system for the 4TB disks?
is this setup okish for my needs? What can I correct (aside motherboards).
Is it overkill in some cases?

Thanks
