Truenas dashboard is showing 1000BaseT
Switched out the cable to a 4pair cat5e

That is a pretty old computer, CPU was released May 12, 2010 and uses DDR3 memory. Plus, the storage controller only supports SATA II, 3Gbps. It also appears that the network controller is some HP specific one.

Not sure you could get more performance out of the computer, except perhaps using an SSD for storage.

Using a single storage disk, (6TB WD Red), is not recommended. Any block failure can lead to data loss.

Last, please check your 6TB WD Red model. Western Digital snuck in SMR type recording in to the WD Red line, which is MUCH slower than CMR. All current 6TB WD Red drives are SMR. Only older ones from a few years a go were CMR. Further, SMR drives don't work well with ZFS.

WD Red Plus & WD Red Pro disks use CMR technology, so should be safe for TrueNAS use.
