Hi, I have an ASUS C60M1-mITX with 16GB of RAM all configured with freenas, installed on USB pen drive and one or two zfs in mirroring disks. I did a dile transfer test and the maximum speed from ubuntu is 34mb / s and windows 55mb / s. I have a gigabit network and on the same ubuntu the transfer is fixed at 110mb / s. How is it possible? It's an old motherboard with a 1.0 GHz CPU and Realtek NIC. The performance you are seeing is par for the course with FreeNAS.

There is a checkbox under "Services" -> "SMB". I'm honestly grasping at straws here. Most likely your speeds are limited by your NIC and CPU.

RealTek NICs use the CPU (inefficiently) for all gigabit processing. Intel NICs offload more work and can easily run at full speed with minimal loading on the CPU.

Part of the reason RealTek NICs are so cheap.
