Simple, I'm sure

I'm doing a computer build and needed a program to work with.
I'm getting the case ready for both internal and external SSDs and have an old ASUS P%QPL-AM MB -- Only 4 GB of RAM, 8 is $150.00.
I loaded TrueNAS 13.0-U5.3 onto an SSD and hardwired to my network using an ethernet cable.
Gave the program a static address, Brought up the logon menu on Google, and used root -- ABCD1234 for the initial logon.
The username or password is wrong. I had turned off my FreeNAS server in advance so it wouldn't be a conflict problem (used different IP addresses.)
The setup won't let me in for the initial settings. I even tried my Freenas logon user/pass...Didn't work.
I got the root/abcd1234 from the PDF, but nogo (I also tried root/ABCD1234, still nogo. What mindlessly simple thing did I forget to do?
Thanks

Huh? Do you mean that you browsed to the web UI using Chrome?
root -- ABCD1234 for the initial logon.
Did you set ABCD1234 as the root password when you installed it? If not, you shouldn't have expected that password to work.

What PDF? And surely you're aware that abcd1234 and ABCD1234 are different passwords.
