Hi Guys,

Im new to Truenas. I understand basic concepts but need to iron out key details.

Looking at purchasing:
Dell 730xd 36Core 2.3Ghz with 384gb Memory + H730p mini
2x 1TB SSD for Boot
24x 7TB Micron SSD
AIC 78 Bay JBOD with 78x 10TB SAS Drives Dual Expander

Here's where I need help:
1. From what I read H730p mini is not not recommended for internal 24x SSD.
Q-a: What Card is best for the Internal 24bay: HBA or Raid card?
Q-b: H730p Mini would be used for the 2x SSD in the back for boot. Are there any settings in BIOS i would need to make to play nice with Truenas?

2. Connecting to the JBOD, I was going to use the 9305-16e with Multi path
Q: already updated the card to the latest FW, just wanted to confirm it should be plug-in play

Thank you for your time.

There is zero question about this. You need an HBA.
Now, could you keep the RAID controller just for the rear boot drives? I guess, but I question the value of that idea. Boot SSDs don't fail very often, if chosen with a tiny bit of care.
So, get an HBA330 mini and keep things simple.

Yes, in essence.
