When running as a virtual machine on a Proxmox 5.0 host, FreeNas won't shutdown. Instead, it throws many screens filled with errors and restarts. This means that a forceful stop of the virtual machine is required.

This screenshot was taken during an upgrade. It was waiting on a "db>" prompt.

I know it is not recommended to run FreeNas virtualized, but this is just a test VM, not production. Still, it is annoying to not be able to cleanly shut down the VM.

There is some general weirdness when running FreeNAS under Proxmox. Some have it working great, while others run into issues like this.

FreeNAS is only fully supported under VMware.

Its not that it won't shutdown, it is trying to, but its crashing on the way

If it were to work with ESXi, then its a Proxmox/KVM bug surely?

I know from experience FreeNAS does not run well under Proxmox and it's not for lack of trying. Use ESXI or don't virtualize at all.
