Sharing/ Backups

Ive got a few questions that i need help with.
Sharing- My main pc (desktop) that i did all my setup on works fine with freenas and smb sharing
i can add and take anything off my server.
My laptop on the other hand can not.What settings do i need to alter to allow this to change. I have most guest setting enabled but i must be missing something


Backups-Now that my system is up and running i want to do more for backups, I want to know if ive missed anything. I have snapshots working. Im also working on backing up my "image" (basically im working on backing up the usb that freenas is running off )of. If you can help streamline/ better what it is im doing i would love the help.

What specifically is the issue?

You don't need to back up the USB drive. Save a copy of your config and that's all you need to restore after a fresh install if things go tango uniform with your boot drive.

I have some tv shows and movies that are having issue with content in plex ( such as extras and previews from torrents that get weird metadata) So i work on my laptop sometimes and want to pull that data off the server. Along with renaming content. I think i can rename but i cant pull data off the server.

What do you mean you "can't pull data off the server". You can't copy something from a share to your laptop?

Yes, sorry for not specifying. I can not pull from the share. So when i go to my mapped drive and look at the server i cant pull anything off of it. Not as in i cannot watch something though plex.
