I was wondering if it was possible to create a share that both a Windows machine and a Mac (OSX) machine can access. Right now, I have a CIFS share for Windows and an AFP share for the Macs and they work fine, however, I don't see how I can get either to see the other share and access files on them.
What I'd like to do is have both access a single share, but I'm not sure this is even possible to do without special client software.

Cifs works great for that. You don't need anything special on either side

Is there a setting on OSX to be able to see a CIFS share? Right now, none of the Macs (Snow Leopard & Mavericks) can even see it.

I'll have to check a Mac forum - this question is probably beyond the scope of this forum.

You connect to the freeNAS server with SMB instead of AFP eg:
smb://server name/share name
