My custom made server finally died after a power outage.
It had a semi server-grade MB with ECC memory, was about 10 years old.

What can I use as a replacement to connect MSA60 shelves? (btw, I bought them almost 10 years 120$ a piece ago and they still working)
I don't need a lot of power. The storage is movies and files. The adapter is flushed SAS9207-8e.

Probably going to use a spare desktop for now, although I suspect it won't last long.

Any advice appreciated! Thanks

Anything you can stuff the SAS Adapter into really.
Depends if you want things like IPMI, ECC
Also which country you are in

I’m in the USA
Yeah, ecc would be nice, don’t really need any other fancy features

I need is to optimize time for maintenance, ideally have current system run for 2-3 more years and then I’ll rebuild it from scratch

USA - got lots of system dismantlers. Get an ex corporate server, IPMI, ECC for not a lot.
Or as you say an old PC - just remember no IPMI or ECC - oh and much more limited PCIe lanes

True, there are tons of gear on eBay

Any specific models to consider?
I guess I'll need a new build
It won't just going to work with the OS on the SSDs (mirrored zfs boot) from previous server, right?

It may well just work.
The networking setup will be completely wrong though and will require fixing.

As for specific hardware - you need to find summat that fits your budget and spec requirement> Just make sure its got enough slots and lanes for your LSI Card
