how can i enter a serial number on virtual hard disk (TrueNas Scale VM)

Hi @Powerquist

You'll want to shut down your VM and add the advanced parameter disk.EnableUUID = TRUE to the configuration. See this KB on the VMware site for details on where to find that. :)


Make sure you're following the best practices outlined in the Virtualization blog as well:

Apparently I was wrong and there is a way. Thanks, @HoneyBadger. Pay attention to the fine print in the linked documentation, though. Either for boot drives only - or not for production. This forum is full of threads started by people who lost data by using virtual disks or RDM.

Glad to hear - but make sure to heed the warnings from @Patrick M. Hausen above about not using virtual disks for anything other than a boot device, or for a "testing" system as outlined in the blog post.

It does look like you're passing a controller through for the sdc and beyond disks, but the 4TB one you have in a pool labeled "Dell" would definitely appear to be virtual.
