my NAS is setup and networked. Now I just need to setup scrubs and SMART test but want to make sure I'm doing it correctly. Here's the schedule I want to set (and let me know if any of these conflict):

  • srubs: once a month (1am Saturdays)
  • SMART long: twice a month (8pm Fridays)
  • SMART short: every other day (6am)

I want scrubs to be done once a month at 1am on only the first Saturday. Please view my screenshot and see if I set it up correctly, because the GUI was a tad confusion.

Also if I want SMART short tests to run every other day at 6am, I just checkmark every day of the week, every month, and select 2 for "Every N day of the month", correct?

For SMART long tests, how do I set it to run every other Friday at 8pm?

Thank you!

So will this schedule have any conflicts between the SMART long and scrub times? Basically is 5 hours enough for the SMART long test to complete before the the scrubs happen? I have 10x 6tb drives in the NAS.

Probably not.

Run smartctl -a on one of the drives and look for the line that says "Extended self-test routine recommended polling time". It will tell you how many minutes an extended self-test is expected to take.

On my 2TB Reds it says 263 minutes.
