Then in that case, the path to the report script would be /root/scripts/report.sh.

I think we are having a language barrier issue here. The path to a file in any Unix / Linux based operating system ALWAYS starts with a / .
This / is not just a punctuation mark, it is the beginning of the path.

This is the path /root/scripts/report.sh

NOT root/scripts/report.sh

Well, the file v1/media/Scripts/report.sh doesn't exist. It can't--pathnames to *nix files always start with a /.

Edit: Maybe @melp, who wrote the guide OP is having trouble with, can chime in.
