Is it possible to configure FreeNAS to shut itself down at a certain time every day? The way I have my NAS set up at the moment, I usually have it off and only turn it on when I need it. Because the on time is usually in the evenings, and I'd be done by midnight, I figure at best it's only on 25% of a day, if at all. Over time I figure that's a reasonable power saving.
What I usually do right now is log into the console and shut it down manually. It's a workable solution, but if I could automate it, I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting to shut down the system.
I've also come across this script for automatically spinning down drives when not in use, and I was wondering if it would be possible to modify it to check for a shutdown at eg midnight if the system isn't being used. I don't know where to start with the script though, so was thinking of just a basic scheduling to start with.
