I tried to upgrade to the latest software and failed so I thought I would do new re-install. That also failed. Now I have been using FreeNAS/TrueNAS for many years but I'm no expert. Perhaps someone can guide me in the right direction. The attached screenshot is the only detail I can provide. I hope this can help.

It just hangs at the 72% when uncompressing? You validated checksums on the ISO file and does it boot on other systems?

Kris, thanks for replying so quickly. I have no other system to try on! As for validating checksums, you're talking to the uninitiated. The HP GEN 8 Microserver is so easy to use. All I have ever done is downloaded the ISO added it as a Virtual drive CD/DVD restart and normally BINGO! or I update from FreeNAS/TrueNAS update screen.

I mostly just want to make sure the ISO file download wasn't corrupted somehow. Booting it on another system helps confirm if the file is "bad" or not as well. Or installing it into a VM on your desktop locally to check.

OMG you're on the ball ))))))) I only have access to HP's main software page ILO. I'll have a go on my laptop with a VM and get back to you. Just FYI, I downloaded the BLUEFIN version I'd been using, that also failed. I also changed the SSD twice.

Validate the checksum, but, to that, I didn't have much luck either doing an install from an ISO mounted remotely via an IPMI; ended up doing it over USB (which is faster anyway, just requires physical access). When dropping to USB, didn't have luck w/ RUFUS doing the default method and having to update grub. Doing it with DD method gave good results though.

Great I'll give that a go
