samba active directory issue

Active Directory strong(er) authentication required (winbind)

would someone be so kind as to actually create a 'howto' for actually copying certs or activating SASL in a 'working' fashion to make this error go away? it is mentioned countless times in bug reports and on the forum and it is marked as resolved with only VERY limited information on what was done. i ended up with the 'no strong auth' option in my samba DC because it was 1 a.m. and it was the only option with any actual info on changing. (though 'just disable strong auth in smb.conf' is still not a lot of actual useful info)
