I am using a FreeNAS 11.1 server with 8 X 4TB SAS drive with mirrored pool and it is in production. Can you please suggest the safest way to add an additional SSD cache drive in it through GUI or CLI?

Regards,

What kind of drive are you looking at adding? The wrong hardware will actually limit potential performance.

As @hugovsky says, the answer's in the manual; you'd use the Volume Manager. Select your existing pool under "volume to extend", select your device, and set the drop-down to "cache device".
