Perfectly safe. Removing an SMB Share entry does not destroy any data or datasets.

To be clear, I'm referring to the Sharing > SMB menu. Stay out of the Storage menu if you do not want to destroy any datasets by mistake.

Thank you very much.

Is there any cleaning needed after removing the shares? My intention is to delete them because permissions are just messed up entirely and then recreate them. I wouldn't want to find the mess is still there after recreating the shares.

There are permissions / ACL for the Dataset, and then there are those for the Share. Deleting the share won't remove the ACL for the Dataset.

You can change the permissions / ACL for the Dataset at any time.

My intention is to provide full access permissions to the datasets but restrict permissions on the shares. My current mess probably comes from there, but if not, I'll start it all over by recreating the shares.

Thanks again for your help.
