Safe to upgrade from 9.3?

FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201604150515

I'm running the above on the server/s mentioned in my sig.
I've wanted to upgrade for some time but feel it might be safer to install another server, upgrade, then migrate.
The main issue being that I don't want to lose the SAN setup I have working.
Not only do I have internal storage on the server but I also have a fibre channel card that handles external IBM storage chassis.

How safe do you think it is to upgrade?

Am I posting this in the wrong forums or something?

If you're already paranoid, go the safe route with a whole new server. You'd have to perform multiple upgrades 9.3->11.1->11.2->11.3 anyway. Might as well build a fresh system on 11.3-U2.1, so you can get used to the quirks before migrating your data. The 11.2->11.3 upgrade, in particular, has a lot of gotchas.

I'm definitely paranoid about upgrades :).

I think I'll go the route you suggest and build a new server, get things working, etc.

Thanks.

I took a look at it seems easier for me to just build a new machine, get that working then migrate data onto that.

Thanks for sharing.
