SABnzbd not launching

Okay, please ridicule me.

Like a million other people, I've installed CouchPotato, SickRage, transmission, SABnzbd, and headphones, all in their own separate jails. After a lot of tinkering and configuration they all seem to talk to each other okay. Almost.

The one thing I can't do is get CouchPotato or SickRage to launch a download via SABnzbd. The CouchPotato-to-transmission connection works fine, as does SickRage-to-transmission. But neither one can stir SABnzbd to action. In other words, I can download torrents but not Usenet feeds.

Manually feeding it by dropping an NZB in SABnzbd's "watch" folder works great. I'm using the 14-day free trial of NewsHosting.

Any obvious configuration options I've overlooked?

I believe both sickrage and couchpotato have "test connection" buttons on their sabnzbd configuration pages. did that work?

Yes, they both tested okay. So the IP address, port, and API are all correct.

I'm not sure what the issue could be then. sabnzbd has a log you can access
