Reset permissions?

I had a heck of a time getting Plex to read my plex folder. I got that working yesterday but now something is up. Under my file server, I have read access to all of my files expect for my main folder. I am prompted for a password. I tried four passwords, my account password and three passwords for my three user accounts. None of them worked. I am able to access the other folders but I cannot write or edit them.

I am able to change the permissions but changing them does not allow my access to my files. I can change ownership from my account name, josh, and root.

I checked the ownership of my folder, its user 3001 which has the same username as my computer. So, can I reset permissions even though this may break plex?

Another forum post pointed out that you need a UID of 1000 and wheel for group.

I'm not sure what is your main folder here.

I never changed the owner of my datasets as this is not necessary in my book.

Are your plex issues related to host path validation?

If you can't access it you probably have to reset the permission and start from scratch. Your credentials for josh should be working though. Where are you editing the permissions?
