I setup replication between two servers using TrueNAS Scale last year and provided everyone stays up and running things work perfectly.
The location of the backup server experienced an extended power outage and nobody was there to turn the server back until today, so there are ~55 snapsots for five datasets to be replicated. For a couple of the datasets there is practically no data involved simply but the amount of data seems to play absolutely no role in my problem. When the backup server was powered on again and I kicked off one snapshot it would extremely slowly replicate three snapshots and then declare a failure, always a timeout. I have not observed a manual replication task going beyond three snapshots before a timeout occurs. The CPUs on both computers show little to no activity and the network is barely active.
The two locations are both using UDM Pro SE with the VPN configured via IPSEC and the connection is perfectly steady according to "ping" (I ran instances in both directions with ~25-30ms response times, zeor packet loss). The primary connection is a 1G up/down (AT&T) and the remote backup is 30/500 (Comcast).
What am I missing? The dataset with zero actual data to transmit should've replicated all 55 snapshots in seconds (or at least < 1 minute).
