Replicating large dataset

Hi, I have one FreeNAS with a 12Tb dataset filled with 10Tb of medical images. Now I've setup a 2nd FreeNAS to replicate the main box.

Now, before the replication starts a snapshot is created and I'm afraid it will use more than the available disk space on the main server. Am I right?.

Is there a way to replicate a dataset without having a lot of free disk space?.

Snapshots initially consume zero space. They only grow as the live data diverges from the snapshot.
