I've done some searching and can't seem to find an answer. I read that you "should" replace a failed disk with one the same size or one bigger and I can understand why, but if you have a small amount of data is it even possible to replace a disk with a smaller one?

I ask for this reason - I bought a 3tb drive from a local store, but I was given a few 2tb drives to use... so I would like to remove the 3tb from my 6 disk raidz2 array, return it to the store and replace it with a 2tb one.

Possible?

Thanks
Luke

Nope. Not possible. You'll have to destroy the zpool and recreate it with the 2TB drives.
