hi all
I'm very new to FreeNas so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
I searched in forum threads but I haven't found any answer.

I have a FreeNas running for a couple of months where I use the rsync service.
In copied files (and in various snapshots) I've a .vmdk files of many GB...

I would like to eliminate the occurrences of this file from the snapshots, but rm fails:
# rm MB.vmdk
override rwxrwxr-x utente4m / gruppo4m uarch for MB.vmdk? y
rm: MB.vmdk: Read-only file system

can you help me?
Thanks in advantage

you can't delete from a snapshot, it's read only. if you want top go through the trouble you can restore to the snapshot, destroy the snapshot, delete the file, and take a new snapshot with the old name.

What's the point of snapshots if you want to edit them anyway?

Store non-snapshotted things on a dataset with a separate snapshot schedule (possibly none at all).

"Man, this huge mass of enormous temporary files that happened to be there when my weekly forever snapshot happened is a real pain. I wish I could remove them from that snapshot without losing all the rest of the snapshotted history of everything else in that dataset..."
